I WANT TO CREATE A PAINTING FOR YOU

Most of my work is sold through private sales.

If you are interested in commissioning me to paint you a painting, or would like me to send you my current price list, please contact me at rsconnett@gmail.com or call my studio in Los Angeles; 323-227-4099

Through commissioned work, I'm able to live my life's ambition of bringing my visions to life in paintings!
If you would like to own one of my original paintings, contact me so we can discuss creating one for you.

You can commission me to create a painting in just about any size.

Here's some examples of commissions I have completed

"THE NIGHT TRAWLERS"
30" x 40" Acrylic on canvas ~ completed 11/2011 ~ (click Image to see larger)

"PHARMAGARDEN"
18" X 24" Acrylic on Panel. (click Image to see larger)

This is a painting I created for a Pharmaceutical executive. He asked me if I could incorporate some of the pharmaceutical paraphernalia that drives his life.
In his case I found this to match up very well with my own visions. I think it came out quite nicely, and he is quite satisfied with the result.

Here's a letter he sent me after his first look at the finished painting;

Robert! Words can't even begin to describe what you have created for me, but I will try anyways.

This painting is beautiful and very personal at the same time. I would greatly enjoy hearing some of your thoughts behind your final creation. I love your use of the Staff of Asclepius - what a powerful symbol. It will be great to see what people think of this specific portion of the painting who are unaware of its relevance (as well as the majestic frog perched on top).

I think your interpretation/vision of what we discussed is fantastic, and you're right - I never could have imagined this as a final product, but that's also why I wanted you to paint this piece. I truly think it's as beautiful from a great distance as it is up close. The mortar and pestle creating the destruction above is phenomenal (And my favorite part of the painting, at least for right now). Such strong imagery throughout.

I spent a year and half of my life looking under a microscope after staining slides of HIV infected brain, so the lower right and upper left corners of this piece will always remind me of my time spent in the lab - as it was truly some of the best time of my life.

I love the creatures throughout, the vertebrae running up the left side, the veins/arteries/nerves being exposed, and of course the pharmacological products dispersed amongst the "PharmaGarden".

I feel very fortunate to have been able to have this piece commissioned by you.

Again, thanks for creating something so infinitely detailed and that I will enjoy for the rest of my life.

It's my aim to spread the excitement and pleasure that I feel about my work to those who make it possible for me to go on painting. I am overjoyed by this response. It is mostly typical. I want you to love your painting.

Here are some other commissions I have done.

You can commission me to create a painting in just about any size.

My greatest enjoyment is to paint something beautiful and thought provoking. I want to create a painting that will bring you and those in your life pleasure and fascination for the rest of your life, and beyond.

Do I take any suggestions? Yes, I do* ...but not literal instruction. I want to know which of my previous works have touched you and why. I want to know why you are considering my work. What is it about my paintings that you find interesting.

From these conversations I will get an idea for a direction to take your painting so that we both will be delighted with the result.

On the other hand, I have so many ideas which I hope to paint before I die, that I am very happy to be granted full reign with our project. Often, these are the paintings that delight the collector the most!

My big paintings are expensive, but priced (as is all my work) only so that I may make a living. After years of work, I know how long a painting will take me to finish. This is how I calculate my prices.

I did not pick up the brush professionally until I was into my fifties. I do not intend to waste any more time. My focus is on my art, and creating as many finely crafted and interesting paintings as I can in whatever time I have left. I have no children. My paintings are my children. Each tells a story and is my contribution to the future.

*A few words of clarification: When I refer to a commission, I don't mean I'll paint your idea. I can't do that. What I mean is, I want you to fund my idea, one that you will find intriguing.
I want us both to be excited about the idea for our commissioned project. We will take whatever time is necessary to discuss what it is I will paint for you.
